Milbank Manufacturing

Project Overview

Milbank Manufacturing, a 90-year-old and family-owned manufacturing company, is known for their high-quality metering equipment enclosures throughout North America. With a unique product portfolio specific to the electrical industry, the company relies heavily on their digital property to provide extensive specification data with clear compare and filtering functionality to easily find necessary information. However, Milbank needed to re-platform their website in order to meet updated brand standards as well as provide feature and functionalities to their customers above and beyond the industry standard. Milbank partnered with Blue Rivet to achieve this goal.

Turning Complex Data into a Graceful Experience

In addition to providing a fully functional faceted search and navigation experience for their products on the website, it was important to Milbank to convey their deep, family history in the electrical manufacturing industry. However, with a long history in a niche industry comes an extensive product catalog. Each product within their catalog has a specific purpose, need and classification. Furthermore, website visitors tended to know exactly what they were looking for. Therefore, Blue Rivet needed to serve their existing customer base while creating a navigation system that helped explore additional product offerings. The team faced three key challenges within the project:

  1. Building a flexible system for specification data that met PIM (product inventory management) requirements
  2. Presenting complicated data in a graceful experience
  3. Abiding by industry regulations

Excellent Performance & Data Persistence

Blue Rivet architected a solution that presented complex data in a meaningful way that was both easily managed by the organization and valuable to customers. Furthermore, the solution provided excellent performance in terms of website speed and data persistence. Through extensive collaboration, the team worked through numerous scenarios to ensure that the data behind the products met the needs of the customers. When working with a catalog as large as Milbank’s, speed to showcase results and specifications on a digital channel was critical. Our data architecture not only met the business needs but also provided an elegant experience. The website was built on Kentico V9 while also leveraging other internal data integrations to provide representative look-ups and product data specifications.
